Shawn Postell has been a teacher in the Hilbert School District for the past twenty years.
His primary assignment for the district is instrumental music grades 5 – 12. Mr. Postell is
also actively involved with the school musical each year in a variety of ways.
His non-training as a choreographer shows through in the marching band-like dance routines
that he has choreographed through the years. Mr. Postell is also a Student Council Advisor.
When he is not teaching, Mr. Postell is a free-lance trumpet player, conductor, composer and
arranger. He has had the opportunity to perform with nationally known artists including
Lee Greenwood, Peabo Bryson, Melissa Manchester, Roberta Flack, Aaron Neville, Tom Wopat,
Bob Newhart, Joan Rivers, Red Skelton and many others. In 1983 Mr. Postell founded Bay City
Swing, a big band from the Green Bay area that performs around the state at various functions
and festivals. Mr. Postell is a member of the Green Bay Packer Band and CP Telethon - Lovell
Ives Orchestra. Mr. Postell has written arrangements and compositions for a wide variety of
groups from elementary students to professional musicians.
