Several concerts will be played throughout the year and the band will enter into competition in the spring. Marching band, pep band, jazz ensemble, solo and small ensemble are all options for student participation.

Mixed Chorus (Grades 9-12) Mrs. Debra Seidl

Open to any student. Consistent attendance in class is a must. Also involves performances at several concerts throughout the year.

Each year fundraisers are held by the students. The money from these goes to help pay for a trip that music students have the opportunity to take every four years. In fall Entertainment Books are sold. At the end of November orders for fruit are taken, and the fruit is then delivered just before Christmas. A pizza sale is held in spring. The community of Hilbert is very supportive of the HHS music students, which is a definite plus as the students try to raise money.

The last music trip was taken in June of 1998. The music students were given the opportunity to travel to several parts of Canada. These include Niagara Falls and Montreal. A few days were spent in each spot, and everyone was allowed to explore and take pictures. All of the traveling was done in a coach bus. Different sites were visited, including a water ride on the St. Lawrence Seaway, shopping throughout Old Montreal, and look at the Niagara Falls on both the United States and the Canadian sides. Some of the Band students are also put in charge of a couple events each year, such as the Homecoming activities, including the Dress-up days and the Homecoming Dance. This allows them to put some of their other talents to work.
